I was talking to a friend of mine, that happens to be a pastor, he was telling about a new ministry that he has started within his church. It is a Godly approach to teaching swagger; e.g. etiquette, style, networking, etc. They are currently working on their curriculum, and as I thought about it, I began to think about the MTV Show, Fron G's to Gents. While the show provided for some interesting entertainment, the lessons taught, were phenomenal and true to life.
Let's explore this, as we remember the roughest guy, Thaddeus aka Creeper, who made the ultimate transformation and thus won the prize. The first lesson in transformation process was learning how to dress properly and to tie a necktie with the Wall Street Cleavage aka Dimple in it. This is very important to any young male aspiring to be a true gent. They met with Fonzworth Bently and Celebrity Stylist and E! TV Show Host of Shop Like A Star, Marcellus Reynolds.
The second lesson, was a lesson in Sportsmanship. Now, this is a very important lesson for all men have, if they aspire to be anything other than a pro-wrestler. Being a man, I can say honestly, that we have an ego, and insatiable desire to prove our 'Manliness' and at times we go to extremes, in our quest. This is poor 'Sportsmanship'. The Gs had a lesson in this, in terms that they could understand Sportsmanship 1 on 1 basketball. They were challenged to use etiquette and sportsmanship during one of the most antagonizing sports, playing opposite to some random thugs. This was a major, unconventional, yet affective method of teaching the art.
The third lesson is in Business. The guys were challenged with learning how to become savvy business men, and then subjected to skills test. In unimpressionable attires, the guys were taught the lesson by Sean Yasbeck, winner of Apprentice 5 and CEO of his own consulting firm. They had to present their resume's and had mock interviews with Mr. Yasbeck. The next day, they met with the ThunderCatz to prepare international marketing campaigns, for them that they would present to Irv Gotti, the CEO of Murder, Inc. I believe in teaching and testing lessons. This is indeed very important, to ensure that the fundamentals of the lesson have meen affectively and effectively taught and understood.
The fourth lesson was in Chivalry. Ladies, what woman does not dream of a chivialrous man. One that is able to protect you, treat you like a lady, a true queen, defend your honor, and make you feel all warm inside? I dare say, that there is not one woman that dreams of this type of treatment from her lover. Well, the g's were given a lesson in chivalry, in the most unconventional arena one could think of, a strip club. Yup, I said it. a strip club. Candace, a celebrity dating coach and author of Being a Dating Dahling. The Art of Chivalry includes: not objectifying, being respectfuly, having health conversation, and being gallant.
The fifth lesson was in Public Speaking. They were educated by public speaking coach and former Miss Teen America, Chante Griffin. They were given four fundamentals: the importance of using proper grammar and diction, the importance of expanding your vocabular, have the ability to speak on any subject and support your ideas.
The sixth lesson was in Etiquette. The guys attended guys a workshop, instructed by TV Personality and author Ted Allen. Having total etiquette and being the gracious guest, often time requires one to exit their comfort times, and learn how to be respectful of other cultures and being willing to try new things. The guys were challenged with this task, when they were introduced to French delicacies: escargot and fois gras. I must say, I am not a fan of fresh escargot, but I will eat the fried. I will take a bite of fois gras, to be polite, and then I will drink water, more water and more water.
The seventh lesson was in confronting past evils, so that you can make it to the future. This was a very emotional lesson. The guys roll played the most hurtful events in their lives with Dr. Harriette Watkins, Derrick 'Fonzworth Bentley' Watkins' mother. The guys were later confronted with the people that they considered the most important person(-s) in their lives. Confronting pass evils is a necessary process, because if you do not do this, you never progress to the future with a truly clear conscious; therefore, you are not free.
The eigth and final lesson was on The Complete Gentelman; e.g. what defines a gentlemanwhat traits are key, and how have I learned, adopted and mastered these lessons transforming my self into a Gentelman's Gentelman. Each had to get a complete makeover, and write a speech attesting to his transformation. In the end, it was Creepa aka Thaddeus that truly made a transformation, and was thus awarded membership into the Club.
After reviewing each lesson, I must agree that this is a phenomenal curriculum for any man or young man desiring to be more than a hustler, a thug, or a street grinder. Swagger Style congratulates Thaddeus and wishes him much success in all of his future endeavors.
